Students will build and learn to fly several airplane models at Physics and Flight. These models include nitro methane powered planes as well as state of the art electric planess powered by a powerful Lithium Ion (LiPo) battery. Most of the kits come as 85% pre constructed models during the camp.

- Remote Control Radios are Spektrum Brand 2.4 GHz radios (DX7, DX6, and DX5's). Radio will control throttle, rudder, ailerons, and elevator and more.

These airplanes run on a glow-fuel or batteries which are available at most any hobby shop. Trains and Lanes in Easton, PA is ready to go to help students enter the hobby, ask for Tim, A gallon of this fuel ($18- $20) will provide several hours of flying time. The radio equipment which controls the servos uses rechargeable batteries (charger included). The model is cleaned with any form of window cleaner (Windex) and paper towels after flying.

These modesl will mostly either take off/land one either paved or grass surfaces or be launched by hand. It is fully capable of flying slow for beginners or performing aerobatic maneuvers, including loops, rolls, inverted flight, etc. Students will also have the opportunity to fly other types of models provided by the camp. All student flying is done with and instructor. A buddy box is used in order to allow the instructor to gain control when the student needs assistance. It is the instructors responsibility to prevent a model from crashing. In the event that a crash occurs, there will be extra models for replacement.

Students should obtain trial memberships with the Academy of Model Aeronautics if they wish to pursue this hobby on their own for $1 if under the age of 19 yrs. At the completion of camp, students are recommended to contact their local AMA Flying Club for a successful future in this hobby.
